i love this receiver.i got this one to replace an older analog onkyo which was a very good receiver but it didn't have hdmi which i needed to run my blueray.i had trouble deciding between the 805 and the 806.my brother has the 805 and i was blown away by the sound quality.the deciding factor was the weight.my cabinet just wouldn't support the 50+ lbs of the 805.plus i think the 805 has been discontinued.i may be wrong though.
ok, back to the 806.setup was super easy.i love the onscreen display.the setup mic is a must.i had the speakers set in a matter of mins.it switches between components with no problem.the sound will blow you away.i'm waiting for the day my neighbors decide to call the cops.(no i don't live in an apartment either)watching blueray movies is just like being at the theater.i have it connected to a hitachi 52" hd ready tv,sony bd-350 blueray,hd cable box and a ps3.the remote is ok but they could have given it some back lighting.i don't really use anyway.the logitec harmony 880 remote works great with it and all other components.some reviews were talking about over heating but if you give about 2 to 3 inches of space on top it will be fine.mine stays on for several hrs a day and i haven't had any problems.the blue dot issue has been fixed.make sure it has an S beside the serial num.this means no blue dots.i don't see myself having to upgrade for many years to come.this receiver will handle anything you throw at it,and more.Get more detail about Onkyo TX-SR806 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black).
