Onkyo TX-SR806 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black) Buy Now

I researched receivers heavily before deciding to purchase this receiver. There are several things that stood out on this receiver.

1 - All the options and connectivity it has.
2 - All the audio standards it supports.
3 - The price compared to others with the same features.

Why choose this over the 606? Features and connectivity. 706? THX certification!

I received the receiver after a day with free shipping (thanks to the distribution center being close to me). Setup was easy. The hardest part of the setup was hooking up all 8 speakers and organizing the wires.

One thing I didn't see mentioned anywhere is the options menu. I was surprised to find a nicely laid out menu. While it's not what you see on the Sony units, it is useful and provides a plethora of options to configure your equipment.

I did run into one confusing thing that isn't explained very well in the manual. The zone 2 volume. When zone 2 is not powered (receiver is set to act) there is a separate volume control 'level' that is on the receiver itself a couple buttons to the right of the zone 2 button. By default this level appeared to be set to -50db. As soon as I turned up this level sound came out of my zone two.

My only other compliant is when switching between sources, it is a little slower than expected. The speaker calibration could be a little faster too, but that is probably not Onkyo's fault.Get more detail about Onkyo TX-SR806 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black).
