Not only did this receiver tie my components together in a way that they much more automatically configure themselves, the sound is dramatically better than before. I think the microphone made a huge difference -- I have a pretty good surround speaker system, but it never sounded as good as I knew it could. The minute I calibrated the sound with the included microphone, it became as good as I hoped it would.
