First of all, I love Amazon customer support, Initially i ordered for 906 receiver, it looks too heavy for me and my room. Immidiatly exchanged with 806 receiver. It is awsome, it may not be delivering the picture as 906, but with the 1080 upgrade i can feel the difference. As like some other complained abt blue screen when switching the components, i dont feel that.

I bought this after lot of research and hooked up with Klipsch Quintet speakers (5.1). The Sound is great, im right into a IMAX theater.

I would highly recommend this product.

Previously i used to watch 1 movie in a week, now almost 1 in a day. Get more detail about Onkyo TX-SR806 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black).

...without the speakers, of course! Setup with this unit is a breeze, thanks to the Audyssey system. Simply plug the supplied microphone in and the easy-like-sunday-morning magic starts to happen. The unit did a fairly accurate job of setting up the parameters in order to make movie watching very next-level.

Sound quality - again, phenomenal. I am using Polk Audio LSi7s all the way around and have a Boston center (honestly forgot which). I'm in a family room that has a cathedral ceiling, so there's a LOT of space to fill. This unit doesn't disappoint.

I'd go on, but I'm at work. Great unit, and you'd be hard-pressed to duplicate its performance/feature set within 500-1000 more.

Buy it.

I just set this up with my brand new speaker system and it only partly works. Onkyo TX-SR806 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Silver) After setting up the unit and listening to my iPod for about an hour, I switch over to the tuner/receiver. Then I tried to change the listening mode by pressing the "Music" button on the remote, but landing upon the "Orchestra" setting the most HORRIBLE noise I have ever heard was emitted by the speakers. Pressing the "Music" button again led to an even louder more horrible noise and then the Amp shut off. Upon turning it on again, it was in the "Mono" sound setting, so I pressed the "Music" button and when the 'pure music' setting started but I was curious and surfed the options and again on "orchestra" the Horrible noise started and pressing "Music" again made a louder noise and the Amp shut off.

The issue is that, the "Music" button is a one-way menu and to surf through to a specific setting it requires circling through the entire menu. Plus, everytime the power is turned-off the receiver turns-on in the 'Mono' setting so if you, say want to listen to the radio in stereo, you have to press the "Music" button, but if you miss the stereo setting and want to return to it, the system has to be turned-off, or you run the risk of 1. losing your hearing and/or 2. blowing you VERY EXPENSIVE speakers.

I am not happy with this in anyway and do fear that the noise that was produced by the amp DID damage my speakers.

I have contact Onkyo and will update this review with details about working with the company of this issue. This was Serial number 0824DD3881022319

I'll save you the time of looking for the perfect surround system for the money. Buy the Infinity Primus series speakers & add the Samsung LN52A650 52-Inch (or smaller screens in this series) 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Red Touch of Color, an HD input (I have DirecTV) and Blue-Ray player & you are DONE! My system cost me about $3500, but man is it worth every cent. This Onkyo receiver & the Primus speakers generate crystal-clear sound with about 30 diffecent styles of output (including THX) & wait 'till you hear the 300 Watt Primus bass... WOW!

I can not say anything wrong about this product. Onkyo is known to provide the best receivers out there, and this model does not disappoint. I set up my FIOS, PS3, and Wii with this receiver and I have not had one problem with it.

I trust Onkyo over any other brands, and I like the fact that Best Buy doesn't carry it because I think Best Buy isn't very good with Audio products.

This receiver will be up to date for many years with so many HDMI inputs and the HD Audio capabilities. Not a lot of blu ray players have been built to fully test this receiver so I can't wait for better sound quality.Get more detail about Onkyo TX-SR806 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black).

This is the 4th AV receiver I've owned. It is by far the best. The only drawback is it is somewhat complicated to set up. I would recommend this unit to anyone that wants a very high quality AV receiver at a moderate price.Get more detail about Onkyo TX-SR806 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black).

The Onkyo TX SR806 is a replacement for an 11 year old Yamaha so I may simply be dazzled by modernity but I think this unit is terrific. I had satellite, DVD, Popcorn and 2 computers to hook up so maximum HDMI inputs were top of my needs and the price, of course, had to be sensible. The remote simplifies component on/off and switching to a one hand two button push. No cons thus far but had it less than a month.
